Overview

We would like to welcome you and your family to Andalusia Islamic Center Weekend School of MAS Upper New York. We have been established for over 10 years and we continue to provide Islamic education for young Muslims and Non Muslims ages 4-18. We primarily focus our education on four main subjects: Arabic, Quran, Islamic Studies, and Islamic history. Our classes are held weekly on Weekend from 10:00am-2:30pm.

Daily Schedule
10:00-10:15 Assembly
10:15-11:15 Quran
11:15-12:00 Arabic
12:00-12:30 Lunch
12:30-1:20 Islamic Studies
1:20-1:30 Dhuhr Prayer
1:30-2:30 Islamic History
2:00-3:30 Islamic Tae Kwon Do

In order for us to ensure the success of your child in our school, we strongly encourage you to follow up with your children on their assignments (assigned weekly) and work together with your child’s teacher. Please stress the importance of Weekend School and Islamic education to your children. Books are required for all classes and must be purchased as soon as possible so your child can follow along in the class. Islamic etiquette and dress is mandatory.

Finally, we highly encourage you to approach the staff and administration for any questions or concerns you may have. Your continuing feedback is what will bring success to our future Muslim community leaders.

Quranic and Islamic Studies
Qur’anic Studies addresses areas of reading, reciting, memorization and understanding of the Holy Qur’an. Students are grouped into age-appropriate and knowledge appropriate levels. Students in all grades are taught Islamic history, issues of the lawful and prohibited (halal and haram), and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Students learn new Islamic songs, hadith and supplications and also pray Duhr in congregation.

Arabic Language
Arabic language classes are grouped according to each student’s level of proficiency. The language is taught from the alphabet to words and vocabulary development. Verbal interaction early on strengthens the program, with emphasis on grammar and usage in the upper grades. Formal instruction and evaluation of reading and writing skills in Arabic is provided by a native-Arabic speaking teacher.
